TAPiit's visit to Mumbai

news blog

It has been an eventful and exciting week for TAPiit. Tapiit's CEO Richard Turner spent his time in Mumbai, visiting maritime institutions and training providers within the region. Blended learning and the changing maritime education industry were amongst the subjects discussed. The TAPiit team visited Vijay Jasuja from the Department of International Trade team at British High Commission in Mumbai. We would like to thank Vijay Jasuja and the DIT team for their support and positive feedback on TAPiit’s training and administration services.

It was also a pleasure to meet Captain Mahesh Yadav, the Director of Maritime Education and Training at FOSMA (Foreign Owners Representatives and Ship Managers Association). FOSMA is a highly regarded maritime training provider with three institutes in Haldia, Kolkata and Noida. Training of seafarers for future industry requirements is one of their key objectives. We are looking forward to exploring ways to work with FOSMA.

And of course, we were delighted to visit MUI – The Maritime Union India, one of the largest unions in India which caters to around 40,000 active seafarers. We had a productive discussion with General Secretary of MUI Mr Amar Singh Thakur about TAPiit’s contribution to the maritime education sector in the region and we look forward to our future collaboration. Our joint work will deliver many benefits to the union members, which includes cashback for booked training, rewards and so much more.

The good news is that we will shortly have an agreement in place, like the one we have in force with Nautilus in UK, when this new agreement comes into effect, the active members will be able to enjoy benefits of cashback and discounts on courses booked through our portal.
