This course is mandatory for deck and engineering officers who want to qualify, or upgrade, for CoC, as well as maritime crew who are designated to control fire fighting operations.
Fire fighting procedures at sea and in port, with particular emphasis on organisation
Tactics and effective command, including liaison with shore-based firefighters
It covers topics such as ventilation control, hazards involving dangerous goods and the effects of fire fighting water on ship stability
A variety of practical exercises and scenarios involving fighting fires of different types and intensity
NOTE : This is a physically demanding course and candidates undergoing fire fighting training will be required to complete and sign a confidential medical declaration, making us aware of any health problems, disabilities or injuries that they may have. It is vital that the candidates feel fit, healthy and able to undertake the course. Training centers may consider utilizing the UK ENG 1 Medical certificate, or equivalent, as an indicator of fitness.
Must have completed Fire prevention and Fire fighting (Section A-VI/1-2 of the STCW Code) or similar training acceptable to the MCA.
